Wellbeing & Safety Coordinator

As the Wellbeing and Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in overseeing wellbeing & safety activities, ensuring compliance, and driving wellbeing initiatives across all ALS sites and operations in NSW and the ACT. You’ll work closely with the HR Manager to develop impactful safety strategies, address health needs, manage risks, conduct investigations, and cultivate a strong culture of safety that aligns with ALS’s values.

About the Role

Operating within the Human Resources portfolio as part of our Shared Services team, the Wellbeing and Safety Coordinator will:

  • Oversee WHS Committee and stakeholder engagement: Lead meetings, build relationships across the business, and collaborate with Marketing for program promotion.
  • Develop and implement health and safety initiatives: Coordinate wellbeing programs, seek innovative solutions, and deliver safety training.
  • Lead WHS strategy and communication: Develop and monitor annual WHS programs, maintain effective communication channels, and embody ALS’s values.
  • Manage incident and risk mitigation: Facilitate investigations, conduct root cause analyses, support hazard identification and control, and coordinate with Case Management providers.
  • Ensure legislative compliance and emergency preparedness: Stay updated on WHS legislation, manage Fire Wardens and First Aid Officers, and maintain emergency protocols.
  • Handle administrative tasks and reporting: Prioritize effectively, document hazards, and ensure timely reporting.
  • Foster community and client relations: Uphold client and staff rights, engage with the community, and promote a respectful culture of safety.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Ideally 2+ years of WHS experience
  • Solid knowledge of WHS legislation
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • The ability to work both autonomously and in team environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A proactive approach to safety culture
  • Cultural awareness and respect
