Vehicle Mechanic (Tax-Free Pay)

Your Role

From the workshop to the field, this exciting part-time role in the Army Reserve will help you step outside the everyday and experience new challenges and adventures.

As a part time Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll use your existing qualification to repair and service a variety of high-tech military vehicles; including tanks and other armoured vehicles, trucks, 4WDs and motor bikes.

You’ll also receive comprehensive and ongoing training to master a huge variety of advanced machinery, and gain new skills and knowledge that you can take back to your civilian career.

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience.

On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn at least $220/day tax-free.

Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.

For this role, you’ll need to hold a trade qualification/trade certificate aligned to a Certificate III in an Automotive Technology Trade (or equivalent), as issued by a state training authority. You’ll also need to have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics.
