About the Opportunity

Remuneration: $80,059.54 – $88,300.97 per annum pro rata + superannuation + salary sacrifice

AHCWA has been commissioned to establish and coordinate five (5) regional pilot sites to test the SEWB Model of Service, which involves flexible interdisciplinary teams with cultural, prevention, community development and clinical expertise.

The aim of the SEWB Pilot project is to deliver optimal, culturally appropriate SEWB outcomes for Aboriginal people, their families, carers and communities in a more culturally responsive and safe way. This includes the delivery of SEWB health education programs and services with a seed-funding component in each region to run activities.

The Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Pilot Project Officer reports to and is directly accountable to the Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Pilot Project Coordinator and forms part of the broader Public Health and Continuous Quality Improvement Work Unit.

The SEWB Pilot Project Officer is primarily responsible for providing project support to the SEWB Pilot Project Coordinator, undertaking tasks as directed that support and deliver on specific contract deliverables.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including negotiation and consultation skills and the ability to proactively establish and sustain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of evidence based and culturally appropriate approaches to mental health, SEWB and AOD issues within Aboriginal communities.
  • Demonstrated project or program management experience in the Not for Profit, Community and/or Health Sector.
  • Proven ability to solve problems by analysing issues, identifying options and selecting the most appropriate solution.
  • Experience in data collection and report writing.
  • Effective organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ideally, in addition to be above, we are looking for someone who:

  • Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community;
  • Possesses Post-secondary qualification in a related field (Health, Social Services, Research, Project Management), and or proven experience in a related role; and
  • Can demonstrate their knowledge of evidence based and culturally appropriate approaches to mental health or social and emotional wellbeing within Aboriginal communities.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
