Position Description

ASD is seeking a highly motivated and outcome driven Senior Executive Service (SES) Band 3 to fill the Deputy Director-General position, Head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC), based in Canberra ACT. ASD is currently undergoing a significant transformation – doubling in size, expanding its presence both nationally and globally, and delivering significant new and enhanced intelligence and security capabilities for Australia.

As a senior leader in ASD, you will have a vital role leading this change, and a demonstrated ability to deliver organisational outcomes and engage with high order operational risks.   The role reports directly to the Director-General and is responsible for delivering technical cyber security advice, and delivering programs and capabilities that will proactively reduce cyber security risk for stakeholders across industry, academia and government. It leads delivery of technical and intelligence advice and assistance to individuals, business and critical infrastructure operators, enabling them to understand and respond to contemporary cyber security threats.

HACSC leads ASD’s ACSC; the Government’s peak technical authority on cyber security, and assists the uplift of Australia’s national cyber security posture. A merit pool may be created from the list of suitable applicants which may be used to fill similar position/s in the event a position/s becomes vacant.
