About the role.

We’re looking for an innovative professional to join our remarkable team as the Senior Project Officer, Operations and Governance. In this role, you’ll drive strategic projects working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality governance, compliance, and operational outcomes.

As the Senior Project Officer, you’ll manage and oversee key governance projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard. You’ll provide expert advice on audit, risk, and procurement, and lead initiatives that promote strong governance across the Aboriginal Languages Trust.

Working in partnership with Aboriginal people and communities, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering change that matters. Your work will support the Aboriginal Languages Trust, ensuring that compliance and governance systems are not only effective but also align with best practices in the public sector.

  • Extensive Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage all aspects of project planning, development, and implementation, including budgeting, resource coordination, and meeting deadlines.
  • Corporate Governance Proficiency: Strong understanding of corporate governance principles, with experience in audit, risk management, and compliance within the public sector.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to assess organisational needs and develop policies that mitigate risks and ensure compliance with government standards.
  • High-Level Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex governance issues clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and Aboriginal communities.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and fostering collaborative relationships to achieve project goals.
  • Cultural Competence: Deep understanding of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with a commitment to respectful and effective engagement.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse data, evaluate outcomes, and provide strategic advice to enhance governance practices.
  • Experience in Public Sector Operations: Familiarity with public sector policies, procurement processes, and governance frameworks.

Salary: Clerk Grade 9/10. Package includes base salary ($120,859 – $133,183) plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
