This is an exciting opportunity within the Office of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage (OGBR&WH) Branch to make a significant contribution to World Heritage governance and management. You will, support a World Heritage Advisory Committee whilst reframing the relationship between First Nations people and the Department in order to support co-stewarding the cultural and natural values of Queensland.

This role is the Senior Project Officer for the K’gari (Fraser Island) World Heritage Area (WHA) and sits within the World Heritage team, OGBR&WH Branch which is responsible for ensuring State (and Commonwealth) World Heritage planning, reporting and administrative obligations are being met. Increasingly the World  Heritage team is endeavouring to build relationships with the First Nations peoples of  WHAs and support their ongoing connection to country. The World Heritage team maintain a close relationship and cooperate with the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) and First Nations peoples to ensure  the Outstanding Universal Value of these areas are protected, presented and  transmitted to future generations.
