Senior Lecturer – Indigenous Education and Research Centre (Identified)

  • Full-time, continuing position
  • Can be based in Townsville, Cairns or remote work arrangement within Australia by negotiation
  • Academic Level C: $129,607 – $148,787 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • This is a designated position for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this exciting role, you will play a key part in developing and delivering innovative teaching programs and research that support Indigenous communities on their path to self-determination. You will lead and design high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in research training. With your expertise in Indigenous knowledges and research methods, you will drive impactful educational and research outcomes that shape the future workforce. As a Senior Lecturer, you will also supervise higher degree by research (HDR) students, contribute to major research projects, and collaborate on securing competitive research grants across categories 1-4.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

As a dedicated educator, you bring experience in contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs, research training, and scholarly research. You’re passionate about delivering quality teaching programs that empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and shape the future workforce. You are eager to advance your academic career by making a meaningful impact in education and research training. With a proven scholarly track record in Indigenous research, relative to opportunity and commensurate to level, you bring expertise in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, as well as relevant research methods and practices. You are capable of independently coordinating subjects at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and you contribute effectively to program curriculum design and review processes. While you have some experience supervising HDR students, you may not yet have had successful completions or principal supervision experience. You also have a demonstrated ability to develop major research projects, whether independently or in collaboration with partners, and with support, can successfully pursue competitive research grants. A current working with children Blue Card is a requirement of this position except where applicable exemption applies as per Queensland legislation.
