The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. The role of the Commission is to protect and enhance the safety, health, wellbeing and quality of life of people receiving aged care.

The Commission is the national end-to-end regulator of aged care services and the primary point of contact for consumers and providers in relation to quality and safety. Our vision is to support a world-class aged care system driven by empowered consumers who enjoy the best possible quality of life.

We aim to build confidence and trust in aged care, empower consumers, promote best practice service provision, promote quality standards and hold providers to account for their performance against the expected standards of care. Position Description

The Sector Performance and Improvement section contributes to the Commission’s strategic vision where people receiving care trust and have confidence that aged care services protect and enhance their safety, health, well-being and quality of life. The section oversees a range of programs to help prevent, identify and respond to systemic risks to people who receive aged care. This includes through improving transparency of aged care provider performance information, producing reports that provide insight to risks or better practice to the aged care sector, and managing agreed risk treatments.

The Senior Insights and Communications Officer, Sector Performance and Reporting, is responsible for supporting the Assistant Directors to deliver regular sector performance reports and a range of other insights reports driven by data and intelligence.

Position Duties

  • Collaborate with team members and other sections in the Commission to draft regular sector performance reports and a range of other insights reports driven by data and intelligence.
  • Co-design content with subject matter experts across the Commission in all operating, policy and engagement areas.
  • Support the Assistant Directors in analysing and presenting data to tell compelling stories.
  • Liaise with Communications and Stakeholder Engagement teams to promote products and maximise engagement.
  • Draft complex information in plain English reports, using data to help tell the story, so that it is quickly and easily understood by a general audience.
  • Work with the commission’s communication teams to promote the reports across all digital and social platforms.
  • Support planning and ongoing evaluation of products.
  • Help draft briefings and presentations relating to the SPR and Insights reports.
  • Apply strict quality controls to written content, with excellent attention to detail. working to the Australian Government and Commission’s style, readability, and accessibility guidelines.

Position Eligibility Requirements (selection criteria)

  • Excellent written communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to confidently communicate information.
  • Report writing, communications, publishing and editing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using plain English and awareness of data Visualisation techniques.
  • Analytical thinking with a strong grasp of policy and data intelligence as it applies to aged care.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work in a busy environment, working with competing priorities to effectively manage workload to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic environment and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.
  • Proficient in range of MS Suite applications in particular Word and Excel.
  • Experience and interest in using innovative data visualisation techniques to produce engaging and thought-provoking online products would be highly regarded.

Position Notes

  • Salary offered will be between $92,970 –$104,883 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

  • Non-ongoing opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
