Senior Environmental Consultant – Toowoomba, QLD

Landloch is offering an Environmental Consultant position with a focus on soils and land management. It is suited to a self-motivated person and involves a combination of office-based activities (report writing, data processing, project management) and field-based activities such as soil sampling, field data collection, environmental monitoring. This position offers an opportunity to work within an experienced team to provide technical support to our projects across the industries that we engage with in Australia and internationally.

Landloch Pty Ltd is a specialist land, soil, vegetation, and water management consultancy that works collaboratively with clients across a wide range of industries, including mining, linear infrastructure, agriculture, energy, construction, Local, State and Federal Government agencies, and Universities. We seek to use high quality science to provide practical and cost effective solutions to a wide range of situations. Landloch is recognised as an industry leading expert in erosion, undertaking projects across Australia and internationally. We have offices in WA, QLD and NSW, with this position based in Landloch’s Toowoomba (QLD) office.

The Position

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Report writing, project management.
  • Entering and processing of laboratory and field data.
  • Computer modelling of environmental processes (erosion, water/solute movement).
  • Deploying to the field (e.g. mine sites or rangelands) and collection of data and observations.
  • Working as part of a team to maintain Landloch’s high quality standards in the laboratory, in the field and in the office.

The ideal candidate will bring to the team:

  • A tertiary degree is essential for this role. The job is suitable to a mid -career professional with a tertiary level qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Earth Sciences.
  • Excellent communication skills, with both written and verbal skills being of importance.
  • Data entry skills (MS Excel, Word).
  • A commitment to working safely and ethically, following company policies.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality and precision.
  • A self-motivated approach to work.
  • Ability to deploy into the field as required, with field work campaigns as long as 2 weeks being sometimes required.
  • Practical approach to problem solving.

In addition to these, the following skills would be highly desirable:

  • Experience in working in the field.
  • Experience with soil sampling and testing.
  • CAD and or GIS skills.
  • Computer modelling
