Roving Hostel Manager

Aboriginal Hostels Limited

Aboriginal Hostels Limited’s (AHL) vision is to improve the quality of life and opportunities for First Nations people through their national network of hostels.

AHL hostels are like a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay.

The Role

As a Roving Hostel Manager, you will regularly travel to hostels within the NSW/VIC network including to Sydney, Newcastle, Tamworth and Melbourne, providing relief to AHL’s hostel management workforce and supporting AHL to achieve their occupancy outcomes.

Hostel Managers are responsible for the day-today running of their hostel and this is a hands on role which will see you working closely with the team to provide a safe, clean and welcoming environment.

The Ideal Person

Great Hostel Managers come from a wide range of backgrounds.

While experience in a similar industry is important, a really successful  Hostel Manager must have empathy and resilience with a calm but firm demeanour.

People with a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and issues affecting First Nations people are well suited to this opportunity and First Nations people are encouraged to apply.
