  • $114,380 + 12% Super + bonus (performance).

About the Role

Working in the Public Affairs section of the Consulate, the Public Affairs Assistant, Press and Media is part of the Mission’s country wide press and media team.

This includes building, maintaining, and creating content for Consulate digital properties (social media, website content); and contributing to countrywide digital engagement.

Duties

  • Designs and implements press and media activities for the Consulate to promote balanced and informed coverage of U.S. policy.
  • Organizes and hosts public online discussion, promotes Mission news and information.
  • Develops and recommends strategies for Consulate engagement with Australian press and media.
  • Organizes press and media engagement for all Mission agencies.

Skills and Experience

  • Four (4) years of experience in a media outlet, think tank, university, NGO, international organization, foreign embassy, government office, or corporation with responsibility for public relations, public affairs, journalism, communications, marketing, managing public relations, outreach events, press conferences, and other media interactions as significant parts of the job is required.
  • A university degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, Marketing or related major is required.
  • Fluent; speaking/reading/writing is required.
