Project Officer – Engagement & Monitoring

This is an Indigenous-identified position, open to individuals who identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, or First Nations.

Based in world renowned Tropical North Queensland, this role will collaborate with and support the Indigenous Partnerships Strategy Manager to maximise Traditional Owner involvement and economic and employment benefits from the planning and delivery of Terrain NRM’s programs and projects. This role also plays a crucial part in supporting the implementation and monitoring of Terrain NRM’s Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples’ Participation Plan 2023-28 (RAPPP).

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills to consult with Traditional Owner organisations, and to support project staff to measure the impacts of projects and undertake field monitoring and evaluation.

We are looking for:

  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander person with firsthand knowledge of culture and communities.
  • Experience in projects or programs supporting Indigenous communities.
  • A team player with the ability to also work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • A changemaker with a passion for the environment.

Where the successful candidate/s aspirations align strongly with the role but identify as requiring additional training or support to fulfil in full, Terrain NRM will commit to a training and development support plan and will include regular time built in to acquire to grow and develop in the role.

The details:

  • Based from any of Terrain NRM’s offices in Tropical North Queensland
  • Fixed Term until 30 June 2028, full-time (36.25 hours per week)

  • Attractive renumeration: $85,144 – $92,162 per year
