Principal Advisor (Identified: Australian First Nations)

Your opportunity
The Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) is implementing Queensland’s Child Safe Organisations (CSO) system including a mandatory child safe standards scheme and a reportable conduct scheme as outlined in the new Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 (the Act).

In this role you will work with regulators and peak bodies to ensure the necessary capacity building strategies are in place for each phase of the rollout of the scheme. You will draw on strong engagement skills and show agility and innovation to support regulators and peak bodies to implement the legislative framework.

About your responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Draw on a range of relevant stakeholders and extensive engagement, provide cultural advice and guidance and lead the development of a strong understanding of the different ways in which organisations can provide a culturally safe environment in line with the Universal Principle.
  • Contribute to engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders to empower the full range of community-controlled organisations to build their child safe capacity.
  • Contribute to a library of education and capacity building materials in collaboration with sector peaks, representative bodies and regulators.
  • Contribute to a training strategy focused on sector leadership and collaboration.
  • Identify responsive planning and coordination strategies as well as activities to build community
    understanding of the child safeguarding framework to help identify with the community their aspirations for key stakeholders working to become child safe.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with a range of sectors and stakeholders to prepare and provide timely information and advice in relation to the child safe organisation framework with an emphasis on implementation of the Universal Principle.
  • Apply strong project governance, including robust planning, scheduling, risk management, delivery and reporting of milestones to internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires the leadership capabilities of an individual contributor as outlined in the Leadership
competencies for Queensland.

Remuneration

AO7

$129,090 – $138,273 (yearly)

$4,948.00 – $5,300.00 (fortnightly)
