About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the field of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health while working within a multidisciplinary research environment. In this role, you will actively engage in research and foster collaboration between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers and non-Indigenous researchers from across UTS. Through this work, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of innovative, transdisciplinary grant ideas and strengthening connections across diverse research communities.

INSIGHT works closely with Girra Maa, the Indigenous Health Discipline in the School of Public Health, and more broadly with UTS Faculty of Health Indigenous staff, to guide the development of research that centres Indigenous knowledges and practices as relevant for all.

About You

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to develop their expertise and build an emerging research profile by contributing to innovative, transdisciplinary research. As a Postdoctoral Research Associate with INSIGHT, your work will focus on advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wellbeing and health research through community-led approaches. You will undertake research aligned with defined project goals and collaborate with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experts, contributing to service, engagement and impactful research activities across UTS and the broader community.

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • A PhD in either Public Health or a related discipline (or near completion) and research experience
  • Ability to conduct research, help develop research ideas and coordinate research projects across disciplinary boundaries
  • Disciplinary expertise in an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health relevant research area with the capacity and willingness to think outside traditional disciplinary boundaries in research designand translation
  • Understanding and experience related to health and wellbeing research as it relates to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • Experience conducting research with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals, communities and organisations

Remuneration and benefits

Base Salary Range:  $91,390 to $111,307 pa (Level A) (pro-rata)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

The position is part-time at 0.6 Full-Time Equivalent, and appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis until the end of 2025.
