The Federation of Community Legal Centres Victoria (the Federation) is a fast-paced and dynamic for-purpose organisation that leads and supports excellence in the community legal sector, promotes the purpose and value of Community Legal Centres, and advances social justice and a fair legal system.

It is the peak body for Victoria’s 50 Community Legal Centres (CLCs), who are at the forefront of helping those facing economic, cultural or social disadvantage and whose life circumstances are severely affected by legal challenges. As People and Culture Adviser, you will work collaboratively as part of the Senior Management Team and with all staff across the Federation. As the standalone HR role in a small organisation, the People and Culture Adviser will have the opportunity to influence and lead the people and culture functions and strategic goals, as well as lead and strengthen daily people operations.

Reporting to the Director of Member Excellence, People and Operations, you will provide expert and confidential advice, coaching and support to Federation managers and staff to enable a positive and engaged workforce and consistent, best practice approaches across the people function.

You will work across all elements of the people and culture function, including delivering organisational culture initiatives and people management activities, drafting, implementing, and reviewing policies to meet the Federation’s compliance and governance obligations, supporting organisational and individual wellbeing, and implementing effective workforce planning and recruitment processes.

About YOU

  • Experience in a similar role being both strategic and operational in supporting people and culture work.
  • Proven experience in delivering people and culture advice, support, and operations, including; advising and supporting the resolution of people challenges, the application of awards and agreements, the development and implementation of policies and processes, and technical capability across the employee lifecycle.
  • Sound experience in the delivery of organisational culture and development initiatives.
  • Ability to take a leading role in maintaining a positive, strong workplace culture.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including a calm, people centric and ethical approach and the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people effectively and professionally.
  • Strong written communication including ability to synthesise information and draft documentation to a high standard.
  • An ability to think strategically while considering practical solutions and perspectives.
  • Flexible, adaptive, and able to work effectively in a small team.
  • Strong commitment to social justice, and values alignment with the Federation.
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Human Resources, Business, or Psychology are ideal, or equivalent relevant experience.
