Parliamentary Research Officer – Library & Research

The Parliamentary Library is seeking two Research Officers to join its Research and Information Service team. We have two exciting temporary, full-time opportunities available. One vacancy is for 12 months, and the other vacancy is for 9 months, with the possibilities of extension.

About us

The Parliamentary Library’s Research and Information Service provides Members of the Queensland Legislative Assembly, Parliamentary Committees and Parliamentary Service’s staff with high quality, impartial information, and research.

About the role

As a Research Officer your role and responsibilities will include:

  • assisting the Director to deliver a quality, client-focussed, and relevant research service in a dynamic legislative environment
  • developing and applying appropriate research methodologies to provide high quality responses to research and information requests
  • liaising with clients in the preparation and delivery of relevant and timely research, including staffing the client service desk on a rostered basis, and
  • investigating, analysing, optimising, and evaluating the use of relevant internal and external databases to meet client needs.

 

About you

We are looking for motivated team players with attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, who enjoys sharing knowledge and contributing positively to the work of their team. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in an appropriate discipline, such as law, economics/statistics, environmental studies, humanities, public policy, science. Postgraduate qualifications are desirable. Qualifications or an interest in economics and/or statistics will be advantageous in this role.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

These are full-time temporary positions based in Brisbane CBD.
