Parliamentary Attendant

The Parliamentary Service is established to provide a range of procedural, administrative and support services to the Legislative Assembly, its Members and committees.

Parliamentary Attendants are responsible for a range of activities which are undertaken within both Parliament House and the Parliamentary Annexe, including:

• Reception duties including visitor sign in and issue of passes
• Telephone messages and switchboard services
• Post Office Duties including mail receipt, delivery and dispatch (including dry cleaning services)
• Administration of the Parliamentary Gift Shop
• Issuing of security swipe cards to authorised persons
• Providing support services in the Legislative Assembly Chamber
• Conducting public and school student tours of the Parliamentary Complex
• Assisting security with the scanning of visitors to Parliamentary Annexe and to the Legislative Assembly Gallery on sitting days and the coordination of evacuation procedures.

 The duties of the position include:

• To provide effective support services in the Chamber of the Legislative Assembly during sittings.

• Deliver informative tours of the Parliamentary Precinct including educational tours which involve interactive activities.

• Maintain an efficient courier/postal service.

• Support and assist the Parliamentary Security Service to ensure the security of the Legislative Assembly and the personal safety of Members, staff and visitors to the Parliamentary Complex.

• Provide a reception and general enquiries service within the Parliamentary Complex.

• Provide a sales and customer service in the Parliament House Gift Shop.

Part-time Hours

The hours of duty are Tuesday through Friday each week, 10.00 am to 2.30 pm.
