Manager, Planning & Business Improvement

About the role:

The Manager, Planning & Business Improvement reports to the Executive Manager, Corporate Services and leads a team of three in the Planning & Business Improvement team. They are an internal and external advocate for VicHealth’s strategy and purpose, developing and nurturing positive working relationships with external stakeholders. They have a close working relationship with the CEO and other members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), as well as with team members across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the development and implementation of a data strategy for VicHealth
  • Leading the development, operation and coordination of VicHealth program and project management activities, developing organisational capability, tools and resources to maintain a high standard in project planning, delivery and close-out
  • Leading the review, standardisation and updating of business processes
  • Driving best practice in procurement and contracting
  • Managing and owning VicHealth’s project and grant management IT systems

About you:

We’re looking for someone who has experience in reviewing business systems and processes and for delivering business improvement initiatives and; experience in translating project management methodologies into organisational policies, guidelines and practice.

The successful candidate will have well-practised people management skills; and the ability to build trust with stakeholders through consistent actions and clear written and verbal communication.

Unit: Corporate Services

Tenure: Full-time, fixed-term (12 months)

Classification: VicHealth Grade E

Remuneration: from $132,061 (plus superannuation and other benefits)

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications, plus relevant professional experience and training, in one of the following areas: data strategy, project management, or business improvement
  • Proven experience working with leaders to deliver whole-of-organisation change management
  • Experience working within the government sector is desirable
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce is desirable
