Manager of Venues Integrated Planning

Sharp & Carter is delighted to support Brisbane 2032 to appoint their Manager of Venues Integrated Planning.

About Brisbane 2032

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the “Games”) will be the largest event in South-East Queensland’s history, with the potential to deliver transformational change to our region. As the name suggests, the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (“Brisbane 2032”) is responsible for organising the Games. Some of Brisbane 2032’s operational responsibilities include: raising revenue through sponsorship, ticketing and the sale of Brisbane 2032 merchandise, sourcing the goods and services required to deliver the Games, managing the temporary overlay and operation of the venues and recruiting thousands of volunteers as well as many other elements that are essential in staging a world class global sporting event.

With the countdown towards the Games firmly underway, you have the opportunity to be part of the foundational Brisbane 2032 team in supporting the delivery of this transformational once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all Queenslanders.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Venues, this key role will be responsible for driving forward the Venues Department strategic priorities and integrated planning activities.

The position will work closely with colleagues from across the Venues Department to develop a cohesive Venues specific roadmap which outlines the key priorities for the next 12-18 months. This work will then expand out into the development of a wider program of works across all phases of the lifecycle of the Games, using technical knowledge and venue operational experience to determine effective and efficient tracking of progress across the different types of venues.

This Manager of Venues Integrated Planning will provide the Director of Venues with executive level support on distinct projects when required, for example, the design and embedding of a venue change management process for venue selection to ensure that programme changes are monitored and controlled.

As Brisbane 2032 grows and Games time approaches, the responsibilities of this role will evolve, depending on changing priorities of the Venues Department and the wider Games Delivery Division.

To be successful in this role you will bring the following:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar venues or event related planning and delivery role.
  • A track record of understanding and delivering the complexities of major sporting events – preferably within a multi-sport Organising Committee and ideally from the early stages of its development.

  • Exceptional professionalism, attention to detail and uses initiative to evaluate challenges, whilst understanding when to pass   on relevant issues.
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic working environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong ability to build working relationships, both internally to an organisation and with external bodies.
  • Evidence of success in preparing clear, concise oral and written reports, presentations and briefings on complex and/or sensitive issues for a wide range of audiences.
