About Brisbane 2032 

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (the “Games”) will be the largest event in South-East Queensland’s history, with the potential to deliver transformational change to our region. As the name suggests, the Brisbane Organising Committee for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (“Brisbane 2032”) is responsible for organising the Games. Some of Brisbane 2032’s operational responsibilities include: raising revenue through sponsorship, ticketing and the sale of Brisbane 2032 merchandise, sourcing the goods and services required to deliver the Games, managing the temporary overlay and operation of the venues and recruiting thousands of volunteers as well as many other elements that are essential in staging a world class global sporting event.

About the Position 

Reporting to the Director of Venues, The Manager of Venues Delivery will play a key role in the Venue Management team in the coordination, planning and delivery of all aspects of competition venue and event planning.

The Manager of Venues Delivery will be responsible for Brisbane 2032’s planning, input and assurance of the capital build competition venues. Whilst the planning and delivery of the fifteen capital build competition venues is the primary responsibility of state government, it is critical for the OC and more specifically the Manager of Venues Delivery, to ensure that the venues are designed to meet Games time requirements, and efficiencies are identified and considered as part of the venues’ planning process.

The position will assist the Director of Venues with attendance and input into key delivery partner venue planning meetings to ensure Brisbane 2032 priorities are recognised, whilst longer-term legacy needs are achieved.

The Manager of Venues Delivery will have experience in, and an in-depth understanding of capital building programs, sport venue planning and design, and Games operational delivery of multi-purpose venues.

As Brisbane 2032 grows and Games time approaches, the responsibilities of this role will evolve, depending on changing priorities of the Venue Management FA, Venues Department and the wider Games Delivery Division.

About You 

To be successful in this role you will bring the following:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar venue planning and subsequent Games delivery roles, supporting large scale and complex venue management programs of work (Venue General Management or similar experience highly-regarded)
  • Previous experience working in Australian venues or events, ideally within Queensland, with an understanding of working with Local, State and Federal levels of government. This should include knowledge of relevant venue legislation and guidance.
  • A track record of delivering all phases of venue operational planning and the challenges that may arise at each phase.
  • Deep experience in event time venue operations and the interdependencies with technical aspects of venues, sport, broadcast, ceremonies, villages etc.
  • Experience in navigating complex stakeholder groups.
  • Strong ability to build collaborative working relationships, both internally and with external delivery partners.
  • Confidence to represent Brisbane 2032’s interests in external stakeholder and project team meetings.
  • Highly professionalism, attention to detail and uses initiative to evaluate challenges, whilst understanding when to pass   on relevant issues.
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic working environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise oral and written reports, presentations and briefings on complex and/or sensitive issues for a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience using MS Office Suite of products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
