About you

The ideal applicant will demonstrate capability in the following requirements:

  • are able to rapidly acquire thorough knowledge of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001, the Criminal Code (Qld), the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979 (Cth) and other legislation relevant to the operations of the CCC.
  • demonstrate experience in a general in-house legal team or practicing experience in commercial or administrative law and are able to advise about some or all of the following:  information access applications, privacy law, human rights law, judicial review and civil procedure, employment law, procurement and contract law.
  • have the ability to analyse complex legal and factual issues, to make high quality decisions and judgments and provide expert legal advice.
  • have developed your written communication skills including the ability to prepare briefs of evidence, legal process documents, submissions and reports, and correspondence covering complex legal and factual issues.
  • have developed your interpersonal and oral communication skills, including the ability to work autonomously and co-operatively in a multi-disciplinary team, to liaise and consult effectively with other officers in the Commission and with external stakeholders.
  • have the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines in a high-pressure work environment.
  • have demonstrated your experience contributing to a positive workplace culture and operating in a high-performing team.
