Integrity and Safeguarding Manager (Western Australia Institute of Sport)

The Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) purpose is to enable Western Australian athletes to achieve international sporting successes. WAIS strategy is bounded by three guiding principles. These principles set a framework of guidance for its decision making in alignment with its purpose and vision:

  • Partnerships – WAIS will partner to enhance the high-performance sport system for Western Australia

WAIS will formally adopt the National Integrity Framework in early 2024 and is developing a work plan to ensure that athlete safeguarding, and the integrity of sport is further embedded in the organisation.

Sport Integrity Australia is seeking an Integrity and Safeguarding Manager to be embedded in the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) under a 12-month Secondment agreement.

The Integrity and Safeguarding Manager will work within the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) and work closely with Sport Integrity Australia to develop, educate, and embed integrity related policies, procedures and practices into all levels of the organisation. The Integrity and Safeguarding Manager oversees a best practice integrity framework and culture and is active in the development of processes and policies that support WAIS’s requirements and National Integrity Framework (NIF) principles relating to WAIS’s Sport partners.

The duties of this role include, but is not limited to:

  • Lead the implementation of the National Integrity Framework (NIF) with WAIS.
  • Guide WAIS in embedding the NIF throughout the organisation.
  • Develop initiatives that support the implementation of integrity related policies, procedures and practices across all levels of the WAIS.
  • Support the development and delivery of an integrity education program to staff, athletes, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Review and/or develop other procedures, guidelines, and practices that inter-relate with WAIS integrity requirements as well as the NIF.
  • Developing and maintaining sustainable and effective operational relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with and provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer within WAIS
  • Review the WAIS complaint handling process in accordance with relevant policies.
  • Development of WAIS complaint management systems to ensure that all integrity matters are accurately recorded and managed.
  • Oversee the complaint management function of the organisation.
  • Lead the development of an education and training program for staff and athletes on the National Integrity Framework, responsibilities, and processes.
  • Development of an implementation plan for the National Principles of Child Safe organisations and lead delivery of the plan.
  • Operate in a timely and efficient manner, seeking advice, escalating complex matters, and influencing accordingly.
  • Other duties as required.
