Position Summary
About the team
The Business and Technology Group delivers the corporate functions which support the organisation by providing Human Resources (HR), finance, ICT, and accommodation services.
The People and Facilities Unit (PFU) provides internal client service and support for workplace relations, workforce reporting, recruitment, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, work health and safety, staff performance, reception, and facilities.

Our ideal candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic HR professional with experience in workplace relations, HR policy, or workforce reporting. Our ideal candidate has a good level of HR knowledge and experience in providing advice to a range of stakeholders. You will gather, analyse, and interpret workforce information to create accurate and meaningful workforce reports, and to inform workforce strategies and initiatives. Strong Excel skills, good attention to detail, and an aptitude for workforce reporting are required for this role.
Duties of the role
The main duties of the Senior Human Resources Advisor include:
• Providing accurate, timely, and succinct advice on a broad range of HR matters, verbally and in writing.
• Assisting in the review or development of HR policies and procedures to align with the AIHW’s Enterprise Agreement (EA).
• Leading the coordination of survey and reporting activities such as the APS Employee Census, gender equality reporting, and the annual APS Agency Survey.
• Developing and implementing HR initiatives, including improved workforce reporting and HR resources such as intranet pages.
• Assisting with other reporting functions including drafting Executive Committee and Board papers, annual report content, and Questions on Notice responses.
• Providing secretariat support to the AIHW’s Consultative Committee.
Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will have most or all of the following skills and knowledge:
1. Proven knowledge and understanding of APS HR legislative and policy frameworks and the ability to interpret and apply APS conditions of service, policies, and procedures.
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to provide forthright advice and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes, and professionally present information to stakeholders in a range of formats.
3. Ability to accurately report on and analyse workforce data to inform decision-making, workforce strategies, and other initiatives, using tools such as MS Excel and PowerBI.
4. Ability to manage projects, multi-task, and prioritise delivery of outcomes in a fast-paced and changing environment.
5. Ability to foster productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Eligibility

• A probationary period of six months will apply to any new engagement to the APS.
