Health and Safety Advisor

The Health and Safety Advisor plays a vital role in supporting, influencing and promoting our safety culture across the organisation.

You will be based in our Regional Headquarters, Wodonga and will undertake weekly / regular site visits across our service area.

This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking regular site visits to collaborate with teams to complete OHS audits and inspection programs to achieve compliance with the Corporation’s policies, procedures and the relevant legislation.
  • Providing specialist advice to empower staff and senior leaders on all OHS related issues.
  • Undertaking hazard and risk assessments; identifying suitable controls and development of corrective action plans in consultation with the relevant business units/contractors.
  • Ensuring all data is correctly entered into the Work Health and Safety Information System.
  • Overseeing the approvals of OHS management plans and relevant licences for contractor applications.
  • Participating in project scoping, risk assessment, HAZOP and project briefings, as required.
  • Providing administrative support for the OHS Management System.
  • Overseeing the procurement and supply of PPE.
  • Carrying out any other duties as requested that commensurate with the nature of the position.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Ability to build relationships with teams to ensure a zero-harm culture is demonstrated at all levels.
  2. Demonstrated ability to lead by example and demonstrate significant changes or initiatives you have helped or implemented in the workplace.
  3. Demonstrated experience in OHS principles in completing risk assessment, controlling workplace hazards, undertaking incident debriefs and documenting safe work processes.
  4. Knowledge and ability to understand high risk work is desirable.
  5. Relevant qualification in Occupational/Work Health and Safety or significant experience in a similar role or industry.

Position Information 

  • An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus 11.5% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
  • This is a full time, ongoing position.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undertake pre-employment checks including a police check and/or pre-employment medical and functional testing where applicable.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
