The role is a full-time opportunity working with the Woolworths Group.

About the role:

Reporting to the General Manager Social Impact, the Head of Indigenous Strategy and Affairs will drive strategic and transformational change for Woolworths Group to embed Indigenous perspectives within the fabric of our organisation and to drive positive impact in line with our key focus areas.

Through highly effective consultation and influencing with key partners and stakeholders you will grow and protect our business by articulating and driving strategic vision and developing the capability and confidence of our team.

As a member of the Woolworths Group First Nations Advisory Board, you will provide trusted advice to the Group Executive and the Woolworths Group Board in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs.

What you’ll do

  • Lead change and enriching the Woolworths Group culture by fostering leadership and accountability for inclusivity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures.
  • Day to day management of the Indigenous Affairs Team.
  • Lead and evolve key engagement platforms for First Nations Team.
  • Develop, deliver and report against our Reconciliation Strategy and Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
  • Lead the development and implementation of cross-cultural capability across the Group, driving the organisation’s impact through respectful relationships both internally, and in the communities in which we operate.
  • Lead the development of responsive, integrated and inclusive policies, programs, services, and risk management strategies.
  • Lead a strategic review of existing Indigenous Affairs Operational Model and ways of working, develop key recommendations and implement endorsed measures that help improve team belonging, functional effectiveness and overall Group performance and culture.

What you’ll bring

In addition to strong people leadership and influencing capability, the successful candidate will have executive level business partnering and stakeholder management experience and be a strategic and agile thinker. Being able to see the bigger picture and anticipate flow-on impacts of decisions made within our overall business landscape will be critical.

Other key skills, capabilities and experience will include:

  • Demonstrated credibility and expertise in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, cultures and experiences, including key opportunities and issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in contemporary Australian society.
  • A record of successfully leading and implementing change management initiatives across large and complex organisations, consistent with strategic direction.
  • Deep and broad connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience from large, complex organisations preferably ASX and a proven capability to work horizontally in a highly collaborative way with other internal stakeholders.
