Rumbalara Aboriginal Co- Operative – Engagement & Family Services now has the following vacancy:

Exciting New Role: Galnya Yarka, Senior Case Practitioner

Full Time – Ongoing, 38 Hours per week

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander designated position, classified under Section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act (2010).

This employment opportunity is only available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

About the Role  

As a Senior Case Practitioner, you will lead complex casework, focusing on enhancing the safety, wellbeing, and cultural identity of children under Child Protection Orders.

This role requires close collaboration with children, families, and the community to address protection concerns, strengthen cultural connections, and support resilience and self-determination.

Key responsibilities include advocating for children in court, working towards reunification when possible, and providing leadership and mentorship to junior staff.

About You

To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • You are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • A degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related fields, with a focus on child development, family dynamics, or trauma, or a Diploma of Community Services with relevant components.
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture, Child Protection legislation, and reunification processes.
  • Proven experience in managing complex cases and mentoring staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, including negotiation, report writing, and case recording.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the best interests of children.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities and external stakeholders to strengthen cultural connections.

 

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Pay and Conditions: Compensation is aligned with the SCHADS Award: Level 5 Pay Point 1, $49.28 per hour depending on your qualifications, skills, and experience.
