About the Opportunity
Location: Highgate, Perth WA (with flexible work arrangements, including opportunity to work from home)
Employment Type: Full Time
Employment Category: Fixed Term for 6 months, with possibility for extension
Remuneration: Remuneration circa $115,000 per annum pro rata + super + salary sacrifice
Mappa is a free-to-use online mapping tool that works to help people and communities to better-access health services as close as possible to family, home and country. Mappa is being built through very strong consultation with the health sector, and the wider community and is for all people to use.
The Full Stack Developer (Mappa) reports to the Mappa Platform Manager, is accountable to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and is responsible for developing the Mappa Platform with respect to its design, coding and implementation. The primary duties include (but are not limited to):
- Developing all front-end requirements (including the mapping platform, a responsive design, and creating all links to the database);
- Building the Content Management System (CMS) to meet all stakeholder requirements;
- Working with all relevant data sources to be able to integrate and display the data from the database and other sources (including handling all API requirements); and
- Automation and script writing.

About You
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- 5+ years’ experience as a web developer with advanced knowledge of:
- Front-end languages – HTML (5), CSS (3), and JavaScript (JQuery) (no CMS) accessible on all devices.
- Mapping Tools – Leaflet.js to build interactive maps.
- Database integrations – knowledge of PostGreSQL databases to be able to pull seeders/migration from the database and code fields into both the front-end and CMS.
- Content Management System (CMS) – Expert in Laravel framework to build the CMS.
- Version control software – Bitbucket and Git.
- API integration – solid experience working with API design and implementation e.g. geocoders.
- The ability to work in multiple developer environments (Development Environment, Staging Environment, Production Environment).
- First-hand knowledge of user-centred design principles, and UX and UI design practices and methodologies.
- Strong sense of web design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience, including functionality and accessibility.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- The ability to use best web practises and coding practises at all times – e.g. clear notes in coding files.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work on projects as part of a team and independently as required.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to analyse, identify options and select appropriate solutions.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Ideally, in addition to be above, we are looking for someone who:
- Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community.
- Has the ability to custom analytics and tracking per software.
- Has a qualification in Software Development.
- Has knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0 AA Compliance) and Consumer Data Standards.
- Has experience in building large, scalable back-ends / web apps (highly regarded).
- Has experience with iterative code review / code refactoring.
- Has knowledge on CI/CD, and automation.
- has experience with project management in an IT environment with leading phases and rollout.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
