About the service

The Salvation Army Access Health and 24/7 Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of this stolen land of the Kulin Nations. The Access Health and 24/7 Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) provides Comprehensive Primary Health Care for people who are marginalised and injecting drugs, street sex working and/or experiencing homelessness.

Exciting Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an identified First Nations Worker to engage with First Nations People who access The Salvation Army Alcohol and Other Drug Primary Health Care and Harm Reduction Services as well as Homelessness and Youth programs. You will provide cultural support, information, referral, and advocacy.

You will work collaboratively with our fantastic First Nations team and be encouraged to build relationships with existing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and workers in the local area.

This position reports to the Health and Harm Reduction Services Client Services Coordinator and is located at Access Health in St Kilda Victoria.

This is a fixed-term part-time, 26.6 hours per week position for 12 months. The role is graded as SCHADS level 5 and the hourly rate range is $42.95-$44.89 per hour.

To be successful in the role:

• You will be of Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and accepted by your community in which you live, or formerly lived, and identify as an Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander.
• You will be able to demonstrate experience in engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, communities and service providers.
• You will hold a degree qualification in nursing, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, social work or related field or, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience related to the role.
• You will show a willingness to engage with training or qualifications relating to the role (The applicant will be supported to complete relevant training or qualifications by The Salvation Army as negotiated).
• You will have competent computer skills including experience in data and record management and Microsoft Office Suite
• You will hold a valid driver’s licence; employees working with children check and undergo a national police check

The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.
