The primary purpose of this role is leading, managing and developing the Finance team in a way that provides clarity of purpose, delivers quality outcomes and stimulates a culture of continuous improvement. This includes providing internal performance reporting and analysis, external (including Treasury) reporting and financial accounting services to effectively deliver on the business areas requirements and support efficient resource allocation for the CCC.

About you

The ideal applicant will demonstrate capability in the following requirements:

  • Significant accounting knowledge and experience, preferably in a public sector environment, within a variety of areas including:
    • Financial management, reporting and compliance
    • Financial statements preparation
    • Asset management
    • Government financial management practices and procedures
    • Government legislation, standards and policies
    • Strategic budget management, including Treasury budgetary processes
    • Policy development and review
    • Risk management and business continuity.
  • Proven ability to lead staff and ensure performance of required tasks within a finance and/or procurement environment.
  • Proven ability to analyze, develop, implement and evaluate financial issues, strategies, policies and initiatives, including the ability to collaborate with business owners to implement strategies to deliver business improvement opportunities to deliver improved financial outcomes.
  • High level computer skills, including demonstrated experience in the use of contemporary financial management systems and processes, and knowledge of forecasting, project financing, activity-based costing, GST and FBT functions. and the proven ability to produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal communication (including written and oral), consultation and negotiation skills to provide professional advice relating to strategic finance matters. An ability to influence senior management and external stakeholders, and ability to raise financial management and analysis capabilities across the agency
  • Manage, lead and coach the finance team to influence a high-performing and customer-focused team operating in a positive workplace culture delivering quality services.
