Executive Officer

Who we are:

Firesticks is an Indigenous not for profit organisation that provides leadership, advocacy and action to protect, conserve and enhance cultural and natural values of people and Country through cultural fire and land management practices. Firesticks values and respects country, local knowledge, and the protocols of Elders and Ancestors.

About the role:

This role is responsible for providing high-level support to the Co-Leadership Team and implementing executive decision, organisational priorities and strategic initiatives in line with our vision and values. This role will work remotely and we will accept applications from all Australian States and Territories. 

Key duties:

  • Provide executive support to the Co-Leadership Team on operational needs
  • Organise and prioritise workflow with the Co-Leadership Team
  • Coordinate and undertake project work
  • Undertake research and consultation to support informed decision-making
  • Prepare and present operational updates to the Co-Leadership Team and staff
  • Support organisational planning and management strategies
  • Develop, implement, and review company policies
  • Provide high-level administrative support, including but not limited to booking trave and accommodation, event coordination, organise and coordinate internal and external meetings, and negotiation of quotes, proposals and reports
  • Manage calendars, diaries, and correspondence for the Co-Leadership Team

About you:

  • You will have the ability to manage multiple projects with shifting and short deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Sound proficiency with Microsoft Office (excel, word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organisational skills, accurate data entry and detail oriented
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to Firesticks’ mission and values, with a track record of working with Indigenous communities and individuals to create positive impact
  • Ability to work as part of and across teams
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally, at times, and thus required to hold a current driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work flexibly

Qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in delivery of high-level business, administration and/or administrative support
  • Previous experience in a not-for-profit organisation would be highly regarded
  • Experience within fast-paced  settings is preferable
  • Qualifications in Business Administration or related fields is desirable
