Environmental Technician

Environmental Technician – Perth

An Environmental Technician position with a focus on soils and land management is on offer at Landloch’s office in Perth (WA). The role is suited to a self-motivated person and involves a combination of laboratory-based activities such as soil and erosion testing and equipment maintenance; field-based activities such as soil sampling, field data collection, the installation and management of field-based monitoring systems; and office-based activities, such as data entry and processing. The position offers an opportunity to work with experienced teams to provide technical support to our projects in Australia and internationally.

We work collaboratively with clients from a wide range of industries, including mining, linear infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and construction, and Local, State and Federal Government agencies. We seek to use high quality science to provide practical and cost-effective solutions for a variety of situations. Landloch is recognised as an industry leading expert in erosion control.

The Position

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Deployment to the field (e.g. mine sites or rangelands) and collecting data and observations.
  • Completing laboratory-based testing under supervision. All training will be provided.
  • Entering and processing of laboratory and field data.
  • Installing and maintaining field monitoring equipment.
  • Working as a team member to maintain Landloch’s high quality standards.

The ideal candidate will bring to the team:

  • Excellent communication skills, with both written and verbal skills being important.
  • Data entry skills (MS Excel, Word).
  • A commitment to working safely and ethically, following company policies.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality and precision.
  • A self-motivated approach to work.
  • Ability to deploy into the field as required, with fieldwork campaigns sometimes as long as two weeks.
  • Practical approach to problem solving.

In addition to these, the following skills are highly desirable:

  • Experience working in the field.
  • Experience with soil sampling and testing.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring equipment.
  • High risk/forklift licence.
  • GIS skills.
  • A tertiary degree is not essential for this role.
