About the role
This is a newly created opportunity for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to support employment and career development within the RACGP. Reporting to our Senior Reconciliation Action Plan Advisor, you’ll be focused on advising and supporting the implementation of strategies to attract, recruit, and retain Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees within the RACGP, contributing to a culturally safe workplace and ensuring alignment with our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy and Plan.

As our Employee Workforce Advisor, you’ll also:

  • advise on strategies to attract, recruit, retain, and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees, ensuring culturally inclusive practices and career development opportunities within RACGP.
  • collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance cultural capability and ensure inclusive employment practices aligned with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy and Plan.
  • build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to create career pathways, and represent RACGP at community events to promote employment opportunities and employment partnerships
  • lead initiatives like the establishment of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employee Network, contribute to policy development, and advise on the effectiveness of people programs for ongoing improvement.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of the impact of colonisation on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workplace experiences, and experience in advising and developing employment strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment, and a commitment to promoting a culturally safe and inclusive workplace.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team with a proactive, member-focused attitude.
