EL1 Senior Health Classifications Advisor & EL1 ICD-11 Planning Project Manager

The PHISC Group includes: the Communications and Engagement Unit; the Web, Publishing and Data Visualisation Unit, the Pacific Health Information and Classifications Support (PHICS) Unit; the My Health, Information Management, and Metadata (MHIMM) Unit; the Primary Health Care Data Development Unit (PHCDDU) and the Practice Incentives Program Quality Improvement (PIPQI) Unit.

The PHICS Unit works to:

  • provide health classification expertise to support the institute’s analysis and reporting of health information
    •    contribute to Australian and international health classification development activities, including the AIHW’s role in the potential implementation of ICD-11 in Australia
    •    participate in specialised activities designed to support health information system strengthening across five Pacific countries as part of the Pacific Health Information Support Hub (PHISH).

    As the EL1 Senior Health Classifications Advisor you will undertake the following duties:

  •  Oversee the provision of written and verbal expert advice regarding the use of health classifications to internal and external stakeholders.
    •    Provide expert advice and support to several Australian and international health classification committees and the WHO Australian Collaborating Centre on the Family of International Classifications.
    •    Provide training on the use of health classifications to AIHW staff through a range of methods.
    •    Support the use of health classifications in the Western Pacific Region where funding is identified.
    •    Provide strategic advice to the Unit Head on technical matters relating to health classifications both nationally and internationally.

    The EL1 ICD-11 Planning Project Manager will be offered as a non-ongoing role for up to 18 months with possibility of extension. As the EL1 ICD-11 Planning Project Manager you will undertake the following duties:

  • Provide strategic advice to AIHW senior officers on the project.
    •    Develop a project plan and other project documentation, such as a risk register, to guide and govern the ICD-11 planning process.
    •    Work with the members of the Australian ICD-11 Task Force (AITF) to coordinate and deliver the ICD-11 Roadmap activities.
    •    Consult with all relevant stakeholders to understand their needs in relation to the planned uses of ICD-11 in their contexts.
    •    Develop a business case to inform a national decision on the scope of ICD-11 implementation in Australia.
    •    Regularly report to the Health Data Collaboration, the AITF and other relevant committees on progress.
