Director of Workforce Development and Innovation
Join us in working together to end homelessness in Victoria.
This is an exciting new role at CHP which is designed to strengthen engagement with stakeholders, and to identify opportunities to increase the organisation’s influence and impact.
Director of Workforce Development and Innovation will take a key role in supporting the organisation to deliver on its Strategic Plan by collaborating closely with the Chief Executive Officer. This work will involve:
- Designing an innovative business model for the SHS Learning Program, allowing it to increase its impact.
- Using evidence, influence, and exemplary stakeholder engagement to elevate the importance of workforce development throughout the Specialist Homelessness Services Sector (SHS).
- Providing strategic direction to a small team with big expertise in sector workforce development, learning and development, and practice leadership.
We are seeking an experienced leader and collaborator passionate about developing and implementing programs that elevate workforce capabilities across the SHS and contribute to CHP’s vision of ending homelessness.
This role is for a fixed 12 month term at full time (38 hours per week). The salary range is $140,000 – $160,000 dependent on experience, plus salary packaging.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of an innovative, enterprising approach to learning and development.
- Convert workforce development opportunities into outcomes for the portfolio, and the SHS
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including funders.
- Develop the implementation of impact reporting across CHP.
- Identify issues and opportunities related to and impacting service delivery, stakeholder relationships, and funding.
- Provide supportive, inspiring strategic direction and supervision to reporting staff.
- Prepare comprehensive submissions and reports that attracts support and highlights our impact.
- Represent CHP externally at meetings, conferences and presentations as required.
- Perform other duties as directed and necessary to the proper performance of the role.
Selection criteria
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in social or public policy or another relevant field, or equivalent experience.
Essential skills and experience
- Experience in designing an innovative business model with a proof of concept for a purpose driven NGO that delivers outcomes in line with organisational vision and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire a team through change, to build and manage stakeholder relationships, including the ability to effectively navigate stakeholder conflicts and differences, and influence positive outcomes.
- Experience or interest in designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives and projects that deliver both short-and-long change and impact.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly developed problem-solving, conceptual, and analytical skills, along with close attention to detail.
- Highly organised, with the ability to self-manage, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands under minimal supervision.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience or knowledge of learning and development and workforce development strategies
- Experience or knowledge of fundraising and/or Government budgetary processes and policy priorities.
