About the role

Our investigations team is critical in supporting our vision to have a safe, efficient and productive heavy vehicle industry serving the needs of Australia. We are now seeking a Director of Investigations to join us.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director Statutory Compliance you will contribute your expertise to support best practice investigations with the aim of a nationally consistent approach. You will drive innovation and continuous improvement to ensure investigations capabilities remain resilient, effective and efficient.

With a dispersed team your leadership will be pivotal in fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. To be successful in this role it’s important that you:

  • Have experience working with a geographically dispersed team;
  • demonstrate people leadership and high-level engagement capability;
  • have high-level knowledge of and experience in investigations management;
  • are resilient, agile, and customer centric; and
  • are motivated to delivery positive industry outcomes through effective relationships with other regulatory and enforcement agencies.

This position can be based Brisbane, Melbourne, Parramatta or Adelaide. Ongoing travel will be a requirement of the role, and you will be supported by your peers, executives and corporate teams.

About Us

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimizes the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

We are headquartered in Brisbane and employ more than 750 people across the ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
