Aged Care at the Brotherhood of St Laurence provides residential services, independent living accommodation for people on low incomes, and home-based services for older people and people with disabilities living in their homes.

 For more than 90 years, the Brotherhood of St. Laurence has worked in the community supporting people of all ages to live the life they choose. Not only do we provide services for older people in our community, but we invest in research and policy development to improve the lives of all older people, and especially those experiencing disadvantage.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Services Officer, the Director Aged Care Services will:

  • Lead the delivery of relevant, accessible, and quality residential and community aged care services – particularly for people living in deep and persistent disadvantage.
  • Lead a department of over 250 staff including the following direct reports: Residential Services Manager, Senior Manager Community Care, Senior Operations and Business Support Manager and an Aged care recruitment coordinator.
  • Require a deep understanding of the aged care sector and what it takes to deliver quality care, strong commercial acumen and strong leadership of strategy and change.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Significant experience leading high performing teams in the aged care sector
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Well-developed influencing, communication, negotiation, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic advice on financial matters; contribute to the executive team and support the Chief Services Officer, Board and relevant committees.
  • Integrity, maturity and strong personal and business ethics combined with sound judgement and a commitment to transparency and accountability.
  • Uses discernment and interpersonal skills to establish other’s needs, concerns, feelings, expectations and motivations.
  • Role model enterprise leadership behaviour and contribute to the development of a positive engagement culture. Modelling ethical behaviours to establish and maintain a culture of collaboration, honesty and integrity that reflects BSL’s values and ideals.
  • Tertiary qualifications in operations management, business or related service discipline.
