About Aboriginal Hostels Limited

Aboriginal Hostels Limited’s (AHL) vision is to improve the quality of life and opportunities for First Nations People through their national network of hostels.

AHL hostels are like a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the local community, you will provide high-quality care to people staying in hostels and ensure residents are well looked after.

AHL is proud to be one of the largest employers of First Nations people in the Australian Public Service (APS) with First Nations employees making up approximately 50% of their workforce.

The Ideal Person

People with a strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and issues affecting First Nations peoples are well suited to these roles.

You will have experience in meal preparation in an industry-based environment and be able to manage stock rotation while ensuring timely service and hygiene of cooking equipment.

While it’s ideal you have experience with similar work, but what’s really important is that you have a strong focus on customer service and can work as part of a team.
