Reporting to the Contracts and Compliance Coordinator this position is responsible for providing a broad range of administrative support within the Business Development and Compliance Work Unit. This includes but is not limited to the functions of; grant application, contract negotiation and management, report writing and quality, risk, compliance and governance systems management.

This position works alongside the close-knit Business Development and Compliance Team, which collectively focuses on business development and strategy, providing support to the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia and it’s Member Services with grant applications, contracting, negotiation and reporting. The unit also manages all funding and submissions to key funding bodies, supporting future infrastructure, financing options and assisting with initiatives to drive efficient costs and enhance value for money within the organisation. This Team is also responsible for supporting the organisation to maintain quality, safety, risk, compliance and governance systems by maintaining a quality management system which is based on ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Experience in quality and compliance administration or a related field.
  • A good understanding of quality and compliance principles.
  • Well-developed administrative skills, including strong attention to detail, accuracy and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in contributing to a small team, including the capacity to review and improve workplace practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to draft correspondence, edit documents and write instructional information.
  • Good keyboard skills and ability to demonstrate proficiency in the use of business technology and desktop applications; including the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Well organised with the ability to effectively plan and coordinate own workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety including an ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ideally, in addition to be above, we are looking for someone who:

  • The person identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community.
  • Basic knowledge of standards, legislation and guidelines relevant to ISO or QIC accreditation and health administration.
  • Basic knowledge of audit processes related to ISO and RACGP Standards and Quality Management Systems.

The position involves working within a multicultural organisation where the majority of employees, clients and stakeholders identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment.
