Conservation First Nations Internship – Zoos Victoria

  • Full Time Fixed term position for 12 months (mid-January 2025 to mid-January 2026)

Through our Baillieu Myer Internship program, we have a very exciting First Nations Internship position within our Wildlife Conservation and Science team.  If you have recently completed your course of study in an environmental or biological discipline and are looking to get some on the job experience, we would be interested to hear from you.

Over the course of the internship, the intern will learn numerous field-based research skills and techniques while working alongside Zoos Victoria scientists and assisting with our Fighting Extinction programs. As an Interns you will participate in conservation planning and reviews, ex-situ zoo-based programs and recovery teams.  You will also undertake a research project focusing on knowledge gaps or key research questions associated with Zoos Victoria Fighting Extinction species or other Victorian threatened species.

Eligibility:

  • To apply for our First Nations Internship, you are required to identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or both
  • You must have at least completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline recently and have a good academic performance (GPA of Credit or above).
  • Must meet fitness requirements of the role and able to work in arduous conditions and for extended periods in the field.
