Community Engagement Officer

This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under ‘special measures’ of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.  BSV will only be accepting applications for this position from people who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

 

The Community Engagement Coordinator at BreastScreen Victoria is a key member of the Communications and Client Engagement team (C+CE), you will bring valuable cultural insights and lived experience that enhance the organisation’s ability to engage meaningfully with Aboriginal communities. You will have a combination of project management expertise and strong skills in community engagement, communication, and collaboration to achieve project goals.

 

If this sounds like you, we’re looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join the BreastScreen Victoria team in Carlton on a part-time (0.8 FTE) ongoing basis.

 

The work you will do, will contribute to reducing the impact of breast cancer and save lives through early detection.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree or relevant relevant experience in Public Health/Health Promotion/Community Engagement/ Project management or relevant discipline.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on effectively negotiating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve additional engagement with aboriginal women eligible to screen.
  • Excellent written communication skills including providing high quality reports to meet deadlines, with attention to detail and clarity.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing as a collaborative and effective
    team member.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.

Successful candidates are required to undertake a national and if required an International police check, working with children’s check and have a current full driver’s license. In addition, there will be a requirement for travel and staying overnight throughout Victoria.
