Your opportunity

As a Communications Technician based at Brisbane, Mackay, Rockhampton, or Townsville you are responsible for undertaking installation, testing, repair, and commissioning tasks limited to complex electrical/electronic and communication system components in a Transmission related environment.

Here’s how you’ll do it:

  • You’ll develop and implement plant and equipment modifications to overcome identified problems.
  • Perform asset inspections and audit maintenance for the provision of a safe work environment, through the identification, development, and implementation of risk control measures.

The remuneration for your new role is from $128,919 per annum + allowances + 14.75% superannuation.

What you’ll bring

Your stability as a team player with the confidence to build and maintain good working relationships in an integrated team is important.  The ability to travel to undertake work and participate in an on-call roster is a requirement of the role.

  • A relevant communications trade certificate.
  • A restricted electrical license
  • A Structured cabling license.
  • You must be in the process or willing to obtain a AQF6 qualification (Associate Degree / Advanced Diploma) or equivalent in relevant Communications or Engineering field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the operation, maintenance and safety requirements of Secondary Systems and Communications in a Transmission substation environment.

We’d also love you to have:

  • Electrical Fitter and Mechanic License.
  • High Risk Licenses, including Riggers, Doggers, Forklift and/or EWP.
  • At least five years’ experience working in the Electricity D industry in a similar role.

Experience with some of the following telecommunication’s equipment but not limited to:

  • IP Switching
  • P25 Radio Systems
  • SCADA interfacing technologies
  • Optical fibre, splicing, installation, and testing
  • PDH and SDH
