Code Compliance Analyst

About the role

The role of Code Compliance Analyst will support the work of an independent committee to monitor compliance with the Life Insurance Code of Practice (the Code) and drive best practice in the industry.

The Life Insurance Code team at AFCA drives best practice through independent monitoring of insurers compliance with the Code. The Code’s aim is to improve standards of service in the Australian insurance industry – ultimately helping insurers to create a better experience for customers. The Code team is a separately operated and funded business unit of AFCA working for five independent Committees, including the Life Insurance Code Compliance Committee (Life CCC).

The role of Code Compliance Analyst reports to the Senior Code Compliance Analyst or the Senior Manager Code Compliance. The role involves participating in and contributing to monitoring insurers’ practices to identify problems, recommend improvements and reporting publicly on findings. The role will be responsible for supporting the Life CCC by providing high quality data and compliance analysis, monitoring and reporting on Code compliance and investigating Code breach allegations.

Typically, In This Role You Will

  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative information to identify emerging problems and understand their significance
  • Provide compliance research as well as other duties on behalf of the Life CCC
  • Monitor and report on Code compliance by contributing to compliance programs and monitoring activities
  • Conduct compliance investigations, and assist with targeted Inquiries
  • Provide committee secretariat support
  • Engage and liaise with stakeholders including Code subscribers and consumer advocacy groups
  • Any other duties reasonably expected of the role

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you’ll come equipped with:

  • Experience with regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of the insurance industry or financial services generally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a small team
