Katungul Aboriginal Corporation Regional Health and Community Services is a not-for-profit organisation providing culturally attuned, integrated health and community services on the Far South Coast of New South Wales.

We have an exciting opportunity for dedicated and passionate Support Workers to join our team.

Reporting to the Manager Children and Family Services the Children and Family Support Worker works closely with vulnerable children/young people/families who require additional support services such as supervised transport, supervised contact and when required, mentoring activities.

The Children and Family Support Worker provides children/young people and families with culturally appropriate support using strengths-based, trauma informed and culturally safe practices.

Skills and experience:

  • Qualification at a Certificate IV level or higher in a field related to Community Services eg. Youth Work, Disability Supports.
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Previous work/experience in or with an Aboriginal organisation.
  • At Least 1 year of demonstrated experience providing support to children/young people experiencing complex issues.
  • Experience and ability to work in situations of conflict and crisis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of strengths-based, trauma informed and culturally safe practice.
  • Understanding of child protection legislation/mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Understanding of the issues and barriers that impact upon the safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal People.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of identity and family/community connectedness for Aboriginal children/young people.

As a child safe organisation, employment at Katungul is subject to a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
