Chief Executive Officer

Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire is a culturally rich community on Cape York Peninsula’s west coast, Queensland. As Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the council’s operations, provide strategic direction, and ensure high-quality service delivery. This role requires a dynamic leader to navigate the challenges and opportunities of a remote local government area. Your responsibilities include financial oversight, strategic planning, community engagement, and operational management. Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including local businesses, government authorities, and community members, is essential.

We seek a senior manager with significant local government or private sector experience committed to making a positive impact. You should have a proven track record in leadership, financial management, and strategic planning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to respect the cultural and geographical diversity of the region. Tertiary and postgraduate qualifications in management, business administration, or a related field are highly desirable.

Total Remuneration Package

Commencing Salary:
$200,000.00 per annum (dependent on skills, experience & qualifications).

Airfares:     
Not applicable (Local Fares scheme at $200.00 return to Cairns applicable after 1years of service).

Leave:  
5 weeks of annual leave per annum
3 weeks of personal leave per annum
13 weeks of long service leave after 10 years of service

Housing:   
2 bedroom, Airconditioned Brick veneer home with basic furniture with a cost of $120.00 per week which is part of Salary Package & non-taxable

A provision for Relocation is applicable dependent on area of recruitment.
