Position: CEO (First Nations Womens Legal Service
Location: Townsville, QLD
Salary: Level 7.1 – 8.1 SCHADS award.

About FNWLSQ:

The First Nations Women’s Legal Service Qld (FNWLSQ) is at the forefront of advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s rights. Based in Townsville, FNWLSQ provides critical legal services, including court representation and community legal education across the North Queensland region.

Role Overview:

As CEO, you will lead FNWLSQ’s strategic vision, ensuring all initiatives align with the organisations mission to enhance access to justice for First Nations women. Working closely with the Management Committee, you will oversee operations, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and advocate for policy reform at local and national levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement: Foster relationships with government departments, community leaders, and industry partners to amplify FNWLSQ’s
  • Strategic Leadership: Drive organisational goals and initiatives, ensuring alignment with FNWLSQ’s mission and
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee financial management, compliance, and service delivery to uphold high standards of governance and accountability.
  • Business Development and Grant Funding: Drive business development efforts and secure grant funding to ensure the long-term viability and
  • Community Outreach: Promote FNWLSQ’s services and build partnerships within the First Nations community, advocating tirelessly for human rights and legal

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership in the Human Services or Community Legal sector, with a track record of strategic management and stakeholder
  • Cultural competency and a deep understanding of the issues facing First Nations
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and funding
  • Commitment to organisational governance, ethical conduct, and workplace
  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, Business, or Human Services, or equivalent
