Position Summary
The Business & Technology Group (BTG) delivers the business infrastructure that supports AIHW Business in the discharge of their statistics and information responsibilities. Within the BTG, the Information Technology Operations and Platforms Unit provides the ICT infrastructure necessary to support the AIHW’s evolving and expanding business requirements as well as supporting ICT security and project initiatives. AIHW’s rich mix of technologies, coupled with the Institutes’ dynamic and nationally significant work program, makes for a challenging and exciting work environment. The Information Technology Operations and Platforms Unit works closely together to exploit their diverse range of talents and skill sets to find new and innovative approaches to meet these challenges.
The AIHW currently has several exciting projects and work underway to enhance its ICT environment and capabilities and are seeking an experienced and passionate Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team. This role is part of the AIHW cloud operations team, who are responsible for the development, implementation, validation, and continuing maintenance of all cloud systems and procedures, as well as maintaining hybrid connectivity between on-site systems and the cloud environment.
To succeed in these roles, you will be a motivated go-getter who is able to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage their priorities and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
Under general direction you will:
• Manage and administer the Azure cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security.
• Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure.
• Analyse existing operational standards, processes, and/or governance to identify and implement improvements.
• Migrate existing infrastructure services to cloud-based solutions.
• Manage security and access controls of cloud-based solutions.
• Design, configure and document cloud solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) toolsets and practices.
• Support cloud adoption of applications as they are being transformed and/or modernised
• Follow best practice methodologies and adhere to recognised ITIL processes (e.g. Change/release)
• Document system design, configuration, and procedures ensuring that they are maintained, reflect best practice.
Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will have most or all of the following skills and knowledge:
1. 5+ years of IT experience with 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and engineering, including virtualisation, cloud, server, storage, networking.
2. Experience with Azure landing zones, blueprints, express route, load balancing, NSG, Azure networking, routing tables and VPN gateways
3. Strong experience in designing and configuring M365 & Azure solutions in a hybrid environment
4. Experience supporting distributed enterprise systems with cloud-based application environments and developing implementation standards
5. Strong experience in DevOps and CI/CD including source control, IaC and deployment pipelines
6. Expertise in cloud orchestration and monitoring technology
7. Sound knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server, and Windows Server fundamentals (AD, DNS, Group Policy etc)
8. Experience with business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives.
