If you’re a Year 12 graduate from 2023 or 2024 and eager to kickstart your career, the Austrade School Leaver Program is the perfect opportunity for you! Our School Leavers Program is a tailored 12-month program that will introduce you to interesting work and support your development.
You will gain access to our fantastic mentoring program, where a dedicated in-house mentor will be provided to you for the entire year, providing you with support to integrate seamlessly into our agency.

How to Apply

Submit an online application via the Austrade Careers website by 11.30pm Monday 7
October (ADST).

In the application form, you’ll be asked to respond to the following: In no more than 500
words tell us why you are one of candidates we are seeking. In doing so please highlight
examples from school, work or in other endeavours which demonstrate your personal
attributes against our description of the ideal candidate (see job pack).

Plus include a resume of no more than two pages that includes two referees that can
attest to what you will bring to the workplace.

You will also need to consider the APS Level 1 work level standards, and the skills and
capabilities required at this level. The work level standards for this role can be found on
the Australian Public Service Commission website: Work level standards: APS Level and

After submitting your application, and if you meet the program eligibility requirements,
the final stage of the selection process and will be a panel interview held either in-person
or virtually.

Panel interviews are expected to be held in November/December 2024, but dates may
change.

The indicative start date for successful candidates of Austrade School Leavers Program
is Monday 20 January 2024 in the Canberra office.
