About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists working initially with a Judicial Registrar Lorenz at the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Judicial Registrar Lorenz performs important judicial functions across the Common Law division of the Court. The Judicial Registrar presides over the following specialist lists: Personal Injury, Dust Diseases, Institutional Liability, Property, Valuation, Compensation and Planning, Trusts Equity and Probate. In addition to specialist lists, Judicial Registrar Lorenz conducts judicial mediations, and hears a range of civil interlocutory matters on referral.

Judicial Registrar Lorenz is seeking a highly motivated legally qualified individual to be her Associate. The successful candidate will have a strong academic record, excellent written and oral communication skills, organisational skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. The Associate will be required to provide high-level legal support and administrative services both in chambers and in the courtroom.

About You

The role requires excellent time management skills, an ability to prioritise workload, a strong customer service focus and a capacity to communicate at all levels. The successful candidate will be legally qualified and have strong legal research skills, interpersonal skills and organisational skills. Post admission experience is preferred. Duties include:

  • Necessary administration and case management
  • legal research
  • clerking in court (including virtually)
  • liaising with practitioners, court staff, and members of the public
  • electronic document management
  • managing the Judicial Registrar’s diary
  • assisting judicial mediations
