Associate to her Honour Judge Robertson

About Us

We are seeking to appoint an Associate to support her Honour Judge Robertson at the County Court of Victoria. Her Honour sits in both the Common Law and Commercial Divisions.

The County Court of Victoria has original and appellate jurisdiction and is the principal trial court in Victoria. The Court hears over 12,000 criminal, common law, and commercial matters each year. The Court’s vision is to be a leader in court excellence, delivering the highest standard of justice to the community and inspiring public confidence in the rule of law.

As an associate to her Honour Judge Robertson, you will provide high-level operational, administrative, and technical legal support, both in chambers and in court. You will work closely with another associate. The work of the team sits within a complex, demanding, and sensitive environment. Your role will involve case file management, a strong emphasis on communication at all levels, and will include legal research and writing.

Ideally you will have demonstrated legal ability. A high level of attention to detail and excellent organisational skills are required, together with an ability to balance competing demands on your time and to work well under pressure. Her Honour requires strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. The ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment is essential.

The County Court regularly conducts circuit sittings in multiple regional locations throughout Victoria. Judge Robertson and her staff usually undertake one to two such circuits of several weeks’ duration each year.

Experience in legal practice will be viewed favourably. Her Honour will also consider suitably qualified undergraduates who demonstrate the skills required to perform the role. Oral advocacy experience and an ambition to pursue a career at the Victorian Bar will also be looked upon favourably.
