About the Position 

Bond University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine has a multi-disciplinary base across a range of programs including Medicine, Biomedical and Health Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetic Practice, Exercise and Sports Science, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. The University and the Faculty recognise the importance of all these students developing an understanding of First Nations health including a depth of understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

We invite applications from qualified candidates for a senior appointment within the newly established First Nations Health Program team. The Associate Professor – First Nations Health will collaborate closely with the Professor of First Nations Health and the broader team to play a pivotal role in the strategic development, internal and external engagement, implementation, and representation of the Faculty’s First Nations Health program.

In this position, the successful candidate will significantly contribute to the integration of the First Nations Health curriculum and assessment across the faculty. This role may encompass the development of placement partnerships, student scholarships, entry pathways, research opportunities, and broader university initiatives. This appointment will also have an important and active role in the teaching of medical and allied health students and make a significant contribution to research.

About the Person

To be considered for this position, you must be a qualified health professional with a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline. You will have the ability and vision to contribute to leadership of the development and implementation of a faculty wide program in First Nations Health.

In addition, you will have a research portfolio and significant teaching experience in medicine and/or allied health is required.  It is essential that candidates have the ability to successfully engage and collaborate with First Nations Communities, First Nations organisations and with relevant healthcare professionals to develop effective relationships and clinical placements.

Further and in line with the strong partnership between Bond University and local health services, there may be an optional opportunity for the successful candidate to hold a clinical appointment with local health services.

To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.

Salary details

The salary for this position is outlined below and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.

  • Associate Professor A remuneration commences at $177,979 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.
  • Associate Professor B remuneration commences at $162,466 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation.

Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
